College Scholarships

THE STAUNTON/WAYNESBORO/AUGUSTA TENNIS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES THAT, IN 2010, IT WILL AGAIN AWARD TWO (2) $1,000 JUDITH ANN FISHER MEMORIAL FUND COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TO AN AREA HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR BOY AND GIRL.

Applicants are encouraged to fill out the Application form in full and have it returned to the S.W.A.T. POST OFFICE ADDRESS by the APRIL 7, 2010 deadline. Forms may filled out on this website or may be obtained from the applicant's school Tennis Coach or Guidance Counselor.

The Scholarship Committee in 2010 consists of Pat Austin (540-946-2629), Webber Payne, and John Spotts (540-292-2442). Applicants or parents may contact any Committee Member for questions.

Winners are chosen on tennis merits and team contributions, scholastic achievements, sportsmanship, and community service.

The scholarship is in memory of the late Judy Fisher who was an avid tennis player, SWAT board member, and a strong advocate of youth education.

In 2010, the winners were Rachel Binda (Waynesboro High School) and Mathew Jenny (Waynesboro High School)

In 2009, the winners were Will Sowers (Robert E. Lee H.S.) and Jamie Stark (Wilson High School)

In 2008, the winners were Scott Nelson (Stuarts Draft High School) and Shawnte Woodson (Waynesboro High School)

In 2007, the winners were Brittany Swann (Robert E. Lee High) and Brad Leavell (Stuarts Draft High School). Click here to learn more about Brittany and Brad
