Hospice Benefit Tournament

SWAT is honored to be able to offer the 3rd annual Hospice Tournament in 2010 on September 30-October 3. This is a new tournament started in 2008 to benefit Shenandoah House, the new residence on the campus of AMC, which will be for Hospice patients.  This tournament was  held on the AMC/Lifetime tennis courts.  SWAT partnered with AMC and the Hospice Advisory Board to sponsor this tournament.  In conjunction with the tennis tournament, there was also a reception and an auction.  All proceeds from the weekend were donated to the Hospice Advisory Board for donation to the Gifted Care Program at Shenandoah House.  For information you may contact Bev Coffman at 248-6144 or bcoffman@hughes.net

SWAT first offered this tournament in 2008 to benefit Shenandoah House.  The tournament was held on the AMC/Lifetime tennis courts during the weekend of September 19-21.

Shenandoah House Tennis

(Hereafter known as SHouT)

The second annual SHouT tennis tournament was held on the Augusta Health Lifetime outdoor courts during the weekend of September 10th-13th.  The tournament, sponsored by Augusta Health, Shields Construction, SWAT, and Chad Reed of Davis Professional Tennis, featured participation in 5 different events.  Sixty five players competed forming 45 different teams in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, boy’s doubles and youth mixed doubles.  The big winner was Augusta Health’s Hospice of the Shenandoah!  More than $3500.00 was raised to be added to the Gifted Care fund at the Shenandoah House on the Augusta Health campus.  The Shenandoah House is an assisted living facility that provides end of life care to Hospice patients who are unable to be cared for at home.  At Shenandoah House, residents receive care in a small home-like setting from Hospice nurses and staff.
